Bay City Babylon The Unbelievable But True Story Of The Bay City Rollers Wayne Coy 9781587364631 Books
What sets this Bay City Rollers book apart from the others (autobiography from an individual band member and a single fan's accounting of her obsession with them) is the big picture approach that the author takes. There simply is no more complete biography of this band in existence. Culled from interviews with just about everyone that was a part of The Rollers story in the 70's and 80's. Helping Coy tell the story are....Band Members: (Nobby Clark, Les McKeown, Derek Longmuir, Stuart Wood, Duncan Faure, Davy Paton, Pat McGlynn, Ian Mitchell, Alan Longmuir, Eric Faulkner)
Managers (Tam Paton, Andy Trueman, Jake Duncan)
Producers/Engineers/Songwriters (Bill Martin, Phil Wainman, Muff Winwood, Jimmy Ienner, Colin Frechter, Harry Maslin, Jonathan King, Stephan Galfas, Harvey Shield, Phil Coulter)
Record Company Executives (Clive Davis, Dick Leahy, Tony Calder)
Promoters/PR/Radio/TV: (Mike Klenfner, Carol Strauss, Emperor Rosko, Marty Krofft, Sid Bernstein, David Stein, Dave "The Duke" Sholin)
And MANY More.

This book is great. Thank you.
Wayne Coy does a great job in dissecting the highs and lows of a group of young men who just love music. The seventies were a time between the turbulent sixties and the fast pace of the eighties. Mr. Coy puts it all in perspective to tell a story of couple of naive lads and the money takers who make them. I couldn't put the book down once I put my head into it. I found myself many times taking a breather and saying, "WOW!"
If you're a music lover, of any generation, this is a must read.
This was one of my Christmas gifts from my Husband... I LOVE IT!! )
I could've used more inside information, I still enjoyed it though.
The book was about my favorite band who made that time a grate time of my life. Just to see them on tv and how they looked smile at the camera while singing or playing their instruments. I would recommend this book to my friend Merly. We went to see the Rollers at MaCormick Inn ,in Chicago IL .I love the story on the Rollers I feel sad at the things that happened to all of them. My heart goes out to them I hope their lives are good and they are in good health.
A Roller fan for life

I bought this based on the high proportion of very positive reviews on . I feel very differently about the book. I found the writing highly mediocre. I read it through to the end because I wanted to learn about the BCR, but it was not a very enjoyable read. The writing style is very clumsy. And not much thoughtful analysis.
This was a pretty enjoyable book. The part about the early years was informative. I knew about Nobby Clark, but not many of the details of the comings and goings of so many people in the early 70's. I also had no idea how much Eric and Les were at each others' throats in the end. Their money problems at the hands of various people had been publicized but not as in-depth as in this book. I figured they were not nearly as squeaky clean as they were portrayed, but I was a bit surprised about the drug part. I knew they drank and some smoked, because I saw Eric and Les smoking before. I read the book in one day. Overall a very interesting book.
